Yulanda Ng
Yulanda Ng is one of those rare people who unconditionally give their all to their students. Ms. Ng is one of the most hard working , inspiration and brightest person I know. Besides being my favourite high school biology teacher at Britannia Secondary School, she also teaches International Baccalaureate classes, Venture Mini School and Mainstream Science classes. Every year Ms. Ng organizes the school wide science fair and supports hundred of students to explore science innovations. As a pillar in the Britannia Community she dedicates her free time in supporting not only her family but dozens of low income inner city kids in pursuing their future dreams. Ms. Ng was cheering for me every step of the way from encouraging me to apply for scholarships, writing reference letters, giving me hugs, and words of encouragement to telling me how proud she was of me when I won my scholarships. Ms. Ng has the biggest heart in the world. I remembered in school she knew I struggled with unfortunate life circumstances. She was the most empathetic academia teacher i’ve ever met. She gave me extensions, encouraged me to push through school when no one else did and genuinely believed in me. Ms. Ng your words mean the world to me. I will forever be grateful for your unconditional kindness, encouragement and mentorship. When I think of Women in STEM, I think of Yulanda Ng.
